24th Birthday
It's my birthday today and yet I won't be celebrating it since it's the NUS exam period. Told my dear not to prepare anything special for me because she has 3 papers this week to study for. Anyway I have come to a point where I have celebrated enough birthdays. Birthdays for me used to be a cousins' gathering in my younger days. We would play games all day long and have special meal treats like pizzas. My worse birthday that I remembered was my 19th one when I was in the army. It was really a nightmare on that day and I don't wish to go into details. My 21st birthday was the most memorable one held just after my 1st year in NUS where all my relatives and friends actually gathered together in one place. In that same year, I also met my dear, so I consider my 21st year a very special year that God has given. My 22nd birthday was equally memorable as that was the time immediately after the exams when my dear surprised me with a birthday cake and song at Cafe Cartel in Bugis. She actually gathered some of my hall friends and NUS classmates (of whom she didn't really know too). I guess that was the most pleasant surprise I had ever received on my birthday. After celebrating so many birthdays (both mine and others), I have become a bit immune to them. Old already, some may say, but thankfully wiser too. Thank God and my parents for taking care of me for 24 years!
